Tuesday, May 15, 2012  After the construction of the new Claymont Fire House, 6 dorm style rooms were designed to accommodate 6 Live-In Members.  Currently we have openings and are looking for individuals that are up to the challenge.  Individuals that are interested in joining an aggressive, proactive fire company, contact Dave Patterson @ 302-545-1050 if interested in the Live-In program or general membership.

USAR 13 requested to MVC

Tuesday, May 15, 2012  At 1032 hours, Claymont was dispatched to assist Newport (23) on the car into a house.  USAR 13 responded with 4 personnel and arrived to find that a sedan had struck the house on the Bravo side.  Crews made access into the residence to survey the damage and if necessary shore the house.  After investigating, there was no structural damage found and no need to shore the house.  The USAR's crew stood by until the hook removed the car and the damage was reassessed.  A county building inspector was requested to the scene and the USAR returned to quarters.

MVC with Rollover and Ejection on the Pike

Friday, May 11, 2012  At 0121 hrs, Claymont along with Medic 4 and Trooper 4 were dispatched for the MVC with a Rollover and possible Ejection.  A13, Rescue 13, and Medic 4 arrived to find a one car MVC and began searching for the patient.  The driver was located approximately 100 feet away in a creek bed.  Units worked together to provide patient care and stablize him for transport to CER.  Trooper 4 was utilized and landed in the parking lot of the Tri-State Mall.

Friday, May 4, 2012  At 0726 hrs, Claymont was dispatched to assist Brandywine Hundred on the working house fire.  E132 with 5 volunteers made the response.  Upon arrival, Command initially assigned the Engine as the RIT, but were than placed in serivce preforming the primary and secondary searches on the 1st and 2nd floors.  All searched proved negative.  Claymont operated for just over an hour until released by command.

Special Ops 13 requested to MVC

Saturday, April 21, 2012  At 1329 hours, Christiana was dispatched for the PD MVC into a structure.  RE126 arrived and requested a County inspector and Collapse Unit from Claymont to respond.  USAR 13 and Special Ops 200 arrived and began setting up to build a dead shore.  Crews from Claymont and Christiana worked together to shore the house and place plywood to cover the hole.  Claymont operated just under an hour and cleared the incident.

Tuesday, April 17, 2012  At 1237 hours, Talleyville responded for the fire alarm at Friend's school.  As 257 was enroute, Fireboard advised that they received a call from the School explaining they had a fire in the Auditorium.  The box was filled with Engine Company 13 responding to the alarm.  257 arrived with a two story educational facility with smoke showing.  E131 arrived minutes later and were sent to the roof of the auditorium to open up.  As the crew made their way to the roof, fire burned through and began venting, making roof operations too dangerous and were ordered down.  The second alarm was struck bringing Ladder 13 to the scene.  E131's crew operated on the fire floor extinguishing hot spots.  Ladder 13 set up and threw the stick to the roof assisting opening the roof for better access to hidden fire.  Claymont units operated for approximately two hours.  The incident ended up going three alarms.

Friday, April 6, 2012  At 0248 hours, the box alarm was dropped for the grill on fire on porch of a residence in the Bigger Tract section of Claymont bringing 13, R11, E11, and E25.  As E132 and Deputy 13 hit the street fireboard advised they were getting multiple calls and upgraded the assignment to a working alarm.  E132 arrived with a 1.5 story SFD with fire going throughout.  The Engine crew established their own water supply, and stretched 2 lines to the residence.  The Engine crew knocked the fire down on the 1st floor and moved up to the 2nd.  Ladder 13 and E131 arrived and assumed first due special service and 2nd due engine responsibilites.  Crews worked on the second floor opening up the ceiling to find fire throughout the attic and the back bedroom.  Extension was found in the 1st and 2nd floors and was handled appropriately.

Wednesday, March 21, 2012  At 1448 Claymont was dispatched for the trash can on fire.  As E132 was about to hit the street the box was dropped at the same location for the house on fire.  As the Engine was responding, the alarm was upgraded to work bringing an extra Engine and Truck and the RIT.  Captain 2 (C. Richards III) arrived with Fire Showing from the second floor and established the 'Claymont Command'.  E132 arrived established their own water supply and ran the 300 to the fire building.  The Engine crew found fire in a first floor utility closet, extinguished the same, and moved upstairs to work on the second floor fire.  Ladder 13 arrived and began first due special service responsibilites.  E132's crew found a room off in the B/C corner and began knocking the fire.  Ladder 13 opened up to find significant extension throughout the attic.  RE39 and Truck 63 assisted on the 2nd floor opening up and extinguishing hidden fire.  257 assisted with throwing ladders and ventilation.

CPR save on the Interstate

Sunday, March 18, 2012  At 1433 hours, Claymont along with Medic 4, Trooper 4, and RE39 were dispatched for the MVC--not alert on Interstate 95 NB @ the Tristate Mall.  Rescue 13, Command 13, and A13 arrived together to find a single car MVC with one patient in Cardiac Arrest. 

Crews from Rescue 13 and A13 started patient care, performing CPR, bagging the patient and applying the AED.  The crews administered two shocks to the patient and regained pulses.  As the patient was placed in the back of A13, the patient became alert and started talking to the crews on the way to the CCMC.

Smoke Showing: 402 Foulk Road

Tuesday, March 13, 2012  At 1729 hours, Claymont was dispatched for the Rescue and Engine to assist Talleyville on the High Rise Fire.  257 and 258 arrived with smoke showing and one apartment off.  Rescue 13 arrived and positioned in the rear of the building.  The crew split up with an inside and outside team.  The outside team through ground ladders in the rear of the building as the inside team made their way to the 4th and 5th floors to start searching for victims.  The Rescue's crew completed the primary of the fire apartment and the apartment above the fire.  E135's crew assisted on the fire floor forcing several doors around the fire apartment and completing the searches as well.  While crews were operating in the fire apartment, one victim was found and was pronounced.  The incident was placed under control and 13 units cleared shortly after.
