Hometown: Chincoteague, VA

Chief Budd has been a member since 2019 and currently holds the position of Assistant Chief. Chief Budd started his career in the fire service in 2006 in Accomack County Virginia. In 2008, he joined a nearby company in New Castle County and served as an Assistant Chief there until joining Claymont in 2019. Chief Budd was also a Live-In from 2019-2023 and has also held the position of Captain and Engineer in the past. He currently has a career at with Jacobs Engineering as a Operating Engineer. Prior to his career with Jacobs Engineering, he owned and directed a Commercial Landscape Company for 8 years. Chief Budd continues to advance the goals of the Chief’s Office with progression in mind.

ASST. CHIEF BOROI

Hometown: Wallingford, PA

Chief Boroi started in the fire service in 2008 at the age of 14 years old at his hometown fire company in Nether Providence Township in Delaware County, PA. Where he rose through the ranks of cadet firefighter, junior firefighter, firefighter, engineer and lieutenant. Chief Boroi came to Claymont in February of 2017 where he started as a live-in for 3.5 years. He has served in many capacities. “Claymont is my new home it has helped me accomplish some of my biggest goals in fire and Ems.” Chief Boroi holds many awards including 5 life saving successful cardiac arrest awards and 2 unit citations. Chief Boroi is a member of Delaware task force 1 for the Structural Collapse and Trench Rescue Team. Chief Boroi has worked as a full time Firefighter/EMT throughout New Castle County for several years. Chief Boroi is currently a Full-Time Firefighter at Talleyville Fire Company. Chief Boroi takes training and safety very serious, leads from the front and continues to strive to make Claymont better each day. 

CAPTAIN MATHEWS

Hometown: Claymont, DE

Captain Mathews has been a member since 2016 and currently holds a position as captain. Early on, he obtained his FF1 and all necessary USAR certifications- including nationally recognized classes and structural collapse specialist. Cody is also a member of DE Task Force 1. Since joining, he has always been a live-in and has recently started a career at DuPont in product manufacturing.

LIEUTENANT CRIPPS

Hometown: Wildwood, NJ

Lieutenant Cripps was born and raised in a fire service family, starting his fire service career in North Wildwood, NJ at the age of 15. After joining Claymont, Nick completed FF1, FF2, Haz-Mat Ops and his EMT and is on track to become a career firefighter in the coming years. Nick currently works as a part-time FF/EMT in New Castle County.

Hometown: Upper Providence, PA

Gary’s firefighting career started in 1977 in his hometown volunteer company, Upper Providence Twp., Delaware County at the age of 15. Over the years, Gary has been actively involved with many different fire departments. Gary has instructed Fire 1, Engine Company operations, Truck Company Operations and most recently teaches Firefighter Flashover awareness and survival. Currently he's a senior Fire Instructor and Nationally certified instructor at Delaware County Emergency Service Training Center in Delaware, Pa. Gary has 6 Valor awards for saving lives and over 15 unit citations. Gary also works as a Train Master for Watco Terminal & Port Service, where they switch 2 rails yards of HAZMAT in the Philadelphia Energy Solutions Refinery in Philadelphia.

Chris, a 50 year resident of Claymont, originally joined CFC in 1984 with interest in becoming an EMT but also completed her training as a firefighter. She was active in the company as both Secretary and Fire Prevention Officer, visiting elementary schools with her Dalmatian and Bert & Ernie Fire Safety and Prevention puppet show.

 

Chris completed training and served as an EMT Instructor for the Delaware State Fire School beginning in 1987. With a goal of becoming a paramedic, she then enrolled in the New Castle County Paramedic program, but just short of graduation, health concerns forced her to give up that dream.

 

Chris retired from Christiana Care where she was an executive assistant and also part of the public safety team as a member of the fire brigade and HazMat team.

 

In 2018, following successful cancer treatment, Chris rejoined CFC and quickly became active on the Administration side of the company, serving as both Secretary and Fund Drive Chairperson as well as assisting other committees.

 

Currently Chris is beginning her third term as Treasurer of the company.
